My first time playing ultimate frisbee, 2012

To this day, I’m still shocked by my journey with ultimate frisbee. I started my ultimate frisbee career in 2012 without prior knowledge of the sport. However, I quickly discovered my passion for the game, which has consumed much of my time throughout my middle and high school years. Despite the countless hours of time and energy invested in this sport, our hard work has paid off in the form of numerous accolades and awards. In fact, our team has achieved a level of success that few others in the country have been able to match. We took immense pride in our accomplishments, and they serve as a testament to our individual skills and the strength and perseverance of our team as a whole.

2014 Junior Worlds, National Team-Taiwan

In 2014, I made the Taiwanese national team as my first appearance on the world stage, participating in WJUC (World Junior National Championship) in Lecco, Italy. This experience was a significant milestone in my ultimate frisbee career, as it challenged me to compete at a higher level, and exposed me to different playing styles and strategies from players from various countries. I had the opportunity to play against athletes worldwide, which broadened my perspective on the value of diversity and spirit in ultimate frisbee. Being a part of WJUC not only improved my skills and knowledge of the game but also helped me develop as a person and a team player. The lessons I learned and the memories I made during this tournament have stayed with me throughout my life and continue to inspire me to strive for excellence both on and off the field.

2015 World Under 23, National Team- Taiwan

The following year, in 2015, at 16 years old, I challenged myself by trying out for the national team in the World Under 23 Ultimate Championship (WU23UC). Going into the tryout, I did not expect to make the team; I just wanted to challenge the best players in the nation to see where it took me.

Surprisingly, I made the team, which consisted of top college talent nationwide. As the youngest player on the team, I was intimidated by the level of skill and experience of my teammates at first, but I quickly realized that this was a fantastic opportunity for me to learn from some of the best players in the country. As I trained and played alongside them, I absorbed techniques that helped me to grow as a player and improve my game. I was proud to represent my country to compete on the world stage, and I knew that this experience would stay with me for a lifetime.

When the time came to compete in the WU23UC, my journey began with excitement and nerves. I knew I had done the work and was ready to take on the world. Representing my country on the world stage was a source of immense pride.

We faced some tough competition in the tournament. Despite the tough competition, unfortunately, we lost the universe point (the last point of the game), which shattered our chance to make it to the semi-finals. We ended up getting 8th place as a result of the tournament. While victory eluded us, the experience taught me lasting values about positivity, determination, and hard work. I will always cherish the memories and friendships I made during that unforgettable journey in 2015.
